Read this blog and saw the video on it, and really got me thinking...what is our country coming to? And what the heck am I doing sitting here? Why the heck am I not doing anything? What can I do to make a difference?
Have had countless such discussions in the past with friends and each time we could not come up with good answers for these questions...nor do I have any now. Except probably the fact that me and most likely everyone else, is too self-centric to really care or do something for the greater good. I know the frequent argument is - what can I do? how will me doing or saying anything make a difference? But I guess it has to start somewhere by someone! The other day I had jokingly asked a friend to take up the cudgels after the Mumbai attack, but his response was he can work in the background, but not lead!

I think that sort of answers the above questions - India is in desperate need of a leader...a person strong enough to stand up to the current bunch of hooligans running our country, charismatic enough to draw the people to him (or her!), mobilize everyone and clean the country up and set it on the right course. In some ways, you can say we need someone like Obama in India!!

Until then, we are going to have numerous Bilqis', Satyendras, Manjunaths, Navleens and the Mumbai terror attacks.

There is an oft repeated old joke - Apna desh Bhagwan bharose chal raha hai (Our country is surviving thanks to God's blessings!), but what if God gets tired one day and says "I have had enough of you fools, now go manage it yourself!!"?? Boy, wouldn't that be a nightmare! :)

p.s. I am blank about what to title this post, so ...:)
