Ayodhya!

Apart from the CWG fiasco, the other hot issue in India is the impending HC verdict in the Ayodhya case. And just read a news item on TOI that poll of people in Ayodhya shows that the people there have no doubt that it is Ramjanmabhoomi! The people (read Hindus) have no doubt what it is and the others (read Muslims), or at least those interviewed, didn't really air their views except voice concerns at the aftereffects of the verdict!

And that is my point as well...how does it matter whether Ram was born there or not? How does it matter whether there should be a temple there or a mosque or a church? Isn't it more important to live your life how Ram lived his? The man willingly gave up his thrown to keep his father's word...and we are fighting to build a structure where he was born?! Thousands died in the riots 18 years ago - yes it has been that long! Thousands have died since, in various different riots/blasts which have happened in the aftermath of that incidence...who knows what will happen, if and when the verdict is delivered...is this what Ram stood for? Or for that matter, is this what the Prophet preached?

The CWG fracas is a classic example of the deteriorating moral fabric of the society...where the behavior of those involved would be making Ram turn in his grave! People need to realize the real challenges that lay ahead and tackle real issues rather than fight over what to build on a piece of land.

Ram did give up his throne to keep his father's word, but he also went all the way to Lanka to kick Ravan's butt for abducting his wife....so let's not get carried away about living Ram's values.

History was wronged when the mosque was built there, and its only right to correct this anomaly.

how the politicians are spinning this issue for their benefit is a whole different subject and is up for debate.

i was expecting this comment from u :)
to ur point, yes, he did go to Lanka to kick Ravan's butt...but even then, he gave Ravan ample opportunity to repent, do the right thing and avert destruction.
And the point I made was in reference to a place of worship...but if someone comes with the intention to harm your family or country, by all means, you should do all that is needed to protect them!
about the politicians, as you said, it can start a big never ending debate altogether :-D

whether its a place of worship, family or work..if something wrong is done to what you hold dear, the wrong doer should and must be punished.

and this is not just any place of worship, millions hold this place sacred and that needs to be respected.

Whether ravan got time to repent or whatever, the point is what is wrong needs to be corrected...through peace or otherwise.

i am not saying that the sentiments should not be respected and let them go ahead and build a mosque...no on can change the fact that Ram was born there...and we do have the HC and if needed the SC to judge the case...my point was, irrespective of the judgment, isn't it more impt to live your life the way Ram did? He didn't fight for his thrown even though it was wrongfully taken away from him - in our case, the temple was demolished and a mosque built, which we duly demolished 2 decades back. He fought for his family and his kingdom when needed, and we should do the same...just that I don't think a temple is worth getting thousands killed. not when greed, corruption etc are so prevalent in the country!

Very aptly put.. does it really matter if its a temple or a mosque. its a place of worship after all.. At the end of the day its just the politicians trying to take advantage of the sentiments of millions
